The Dominion School (TDS) was founded in 1985. TDS is an accredited, coeducational, therapeutic special education day school. We provide a highly structured and individualized psychoeducational model for 27 adolescents who are experiencing emotional, learning, and/or behavioral problems that interfere with their educational development. We utilize a unique combination of small academic classes, and individual, group, and family counseling to contribute to the growth of each student. Our primary goal is to help our students return to a less restrictive educational setting with the academic, social, and emotional skills they need to succeed.
At TDS, we believe social and emotional growth should occur simultaneously with academic achievement. This way, students are empowered to experience school as a vital environment that facilitates their educational and personal growth. Our program works to strengthen the student's learning skills and their self-confidence, character, and interpersonal relationships. We actively collaborate with the families to help each student reach his or her full potential.
We draw on the strengths of a caring and committed professional staff of educators and social workers who have extensive experience working with emotionally disabled and/or learning-disabled adolescents and their families. In addition to the Administrators, we employ four teachers and three social workers, an Educational Coordinator and an Office Manager as well as writers who publish articles like Education in Spain: Public, Private International Schools in Alicante on our site and prepare content for our sites. Thus a staff-to-student ratio of 1:3 is maintained.
